The Lion King

Well tonight we went and saw the Lion King in 3D! It was pretty fun, while I was laughing with the kids at the movie, Caity was watching the kids around us and laughing at their reactions to the movie, like when the little girl in front of us started crying when Mufasa died. It was kinda funny. Anyways, who knew Disney could re-release a movie years later and make millions on it. Again. Maybe we can convince them to re-release Mulan!

I love animated movies...they make me fill like a kid! I'm just a big kid I think.

My current obession

So over the past several years, I have developed an obsession. It may sound strange, but I promise it is one of the best things ever. It is the best snack to eat at night, in place of a light meal, or in my Grandma's case, for breakfast (although she only eats the first part of it.)

Here it is. First you need:

The thing is, the popcorn must be air popped. None of that microwave in a bag garbage. Put 2 tbs of melted butter (not margarine), or olive oil (sounds kinda wierd, but it is super tasty), or "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" butter spray (thanks for the idea Paula), and a little salt. Eat the popcorn.

Next eat some of this:

A slice of cheese after popcorn is one of the most amazing things, and makes the whole experience so much more enjoyable. Cheddar is always a favorite, but lately at Kroger in the cheese section they have put out a basket that has different chunks of cheese in it, all of which is under 4 dollars. So it has allowed me to eat some cheese that is 20-30 dollars a pound for about 3-4 bucks. It is a great treat when I go to the store, and it has been really fun mixing up different types of cheese with my popcorn. I have had 7 or 8 different kinds now, and while most of them are pretty good I have decided that I do not have much of a liking for french cheese. Right now I have a french sheep cheese, and while I can't remember the name, it tastes kinda weird..although it is better than brie. Anything is better than that. Ugh.

Anyways, combine those two things on any given night, and you are sure to bring a smile to your face.

For a little holiday flavor, try this with popcorn:

Oh man...egg nog and popcorn....Christmas heaven.

Disclaimer: Caity does not share my popcorn and cheese obsession. Although she does like popcorn with nacho cheese seasoning on it.

Our new experience with TV

Well since moving into our new apartment we have discovered a new experience with TV. Well not exactly new, I had this one when I was a kid before we had satellite TV. We moved into our new apartment and realized that we don't get cable TV! So we looked into getting cable, and realized that it cost way too much, so instead of getting it, we decided to go old school and get an antennae! We got a pretty sleek looking one though....it is the little black square leaning against the wall there.

The antennae works great, except for in the mornings when we don't get NBC (one of our 5 or 6 channels), or when it is stormy, or when I walk into the room too fast...etc. hahah

The down side with cable is that we do not get the Food Channel (which we love......and now have to watch in the work out room), and we do not get ESPN , so we can't watch the BYU games....which turned out being good yesterday because BYU got beaten pretty bad. :( and we do not get any of those other channels that we never really watched. :)

It's back to old school for us!

One of the good things about Texas

Well we have decided that there are a few things that we really like about Texas, and among those is:

BLUE BELL! We used to think that people only like it because it is a Texas thing (the factory is about an hour away, they give ice cream out when you take a tour, we need to go!) Anyways, we tried it and now we love love love it. Its not only the cream that is good, but it is so chunky....so much chunkyness....(I like 'em big, I like 'em chunky....................madagascar 2). Anyways, some of the best ice cream ever! The cookies and cream has whole oreo's in it! mmmmmmmmm

First Yell

Well the other day we went to a thing called First Yell here on campus, it was essentially a big pep rally for the start of the football season and for school starting up again. It was interesting. It started off with a group of singing cadets, followed by these folks:

These guys and gals were called the Aggie Wranglers....it just made us realize that we really are going to school in Texas. They were actually pretty good though.

They were followed by some students banging on garbage cans, (some percussion thing) but we decided they didn't look cool enough to be up there.

Our favorite act was Brian Regan, who came on stage and started a joke about how the gig seemed super easy to him. He said that "All I have to do is yell for an hour?" "Ok yell......and don't wear Orange." We loved all his jokes, especially the one where he said when he flew into the College Station airport that he had to wake up the worker that was there. "Hey we are here! Which baggage claim do we use? Ummmm this one. You can call it number one if you want." (for those of you who have never been to the airport here, it is TINY....I went there once early in the morning to change a flight and I actually did have to walk around and look pretty hard to find someone to talk to. It sort of feels like the airport "where everybody knows your name.")

Anyways, it was a fun evening, and we now feel more like Aggies, even though we remain Cougars at heart!

Well we decided also to post some pictures of the schools we are attending. Here is Caity's school:

I don't have a picture of my school yet, but I did find a picture on line that is the artists rendition. I will have to take an actual picture sometime.

Well as some of you may be aware there are a lot of fires going on down here in Texas recently, and there actually have been several close to our town. But for those concerned, we are perfectly safe! (I hope) hahah. It does smell like smoke though.

It cooled down to 94 degrees today, it was so nice!

Bobsled!

Blast from the past

I was looking through some old pictures and thought these ones would be fun to post. They are pretty old and scanned off some slides (hence the fuzzies and kinda bad quality). Enjoy!

Grandma and Grandpa and I.

I think if you look real close my hair is flying up off my head. That is pretty
sweet!

My cousin, uncle, and I. Dad must have been taking the picture. Good times in the cruiser.

I was a pretty cool 1st grader. In case you couldn't tell ;)

Classic Easter Sunday, direct from the 90's. hahaha. I hope no one gets mad at me for posting that one.

I am pretty excited about those toys. At least one of which is from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. For my birthday this year my brother in law sent me a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles DVD with 10 or so episodes from the original cartoon series. I watched some of them today, it was pretty fun! Reminded me of Saturday morning cartoons...back when I actually wanted to wake up on Saturday.

Here are some sweet memories...the orange van and the cabin. I am also lookin pretty good here with my matching sweats/windbreakers that are strung tight around my head. haha

Now if only we could get a hold of some sweet pictures of Caity....

Stay tuned!
