One of the good things about Texas

Well we have decided that there are a few things that we really like about Texas, and among those is:



BLUE BELL! We used to think that people only like it because it is a Texas thing (the factory is about an hour away, they give ice cream out when you take a tour, we need to go!) Anyways, we tried it and now we love love love it. Its not only the cream that is good, but it is so chunky....so much chunkyness....(I like 'em big, I like 'em chunky....................madagascar 2). Anyways, some of the best ice cream ever! The cookies and cream has whole oreo's in it! mmmmmmmmm

First Yell

Well the other day we went to a thing called First Yell here on campus, it was essentially a big pep rally for the start of the football season and for school starting up again. It was interesting. It started off with a group of singing cadets, followed by these folks:



These guys and gals were called the Aggie Wranglers....it just made us realize that we really are going to school in Texas. They were actually pretty good though.

They were followed by some students banging on garbage cans, (some percussion thing) but we decided they didn't look cool enough to be up there.

Our favorite act was Brian Regan, who came on stage and started a joke about how the gig seemed super easy to him. He said that "All I have to do is yell for an hour?" "Ok yell......and don't wear Orange." We loved all his jokes, especially the one where he said when he flew into the College Station airport that he had to wake up the worker that was there. "Hey we are here! Which baggage claim do we use? Ummmm this one. You can call it number one if you want." (for those of you who have never been to the airport here, it is TINY....I went there once early in the morning to change a flight and I actually did have to walk around and look pretty hard to find someone to talk to. It sort of feels like the airport "where everybody knows your name.")

Anyways, it was a fun evening, and we now feel more like Aggies, even though we remain Cougars at heart!

Well we decided also to post some pictures of the schools we are attending.Here is Caity's school:

Well as some of you may be aware there are a lot of fires going on down here in Texas recently, and there actually have been several close to our town. But for those concerned, we are perfectly safe! (I hope) hahah. It does smell like smoke though.

It cooled down to 94 degrees today, it was so nice!

I am pretty excited about those toys. At least one of which is from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. For my birthday this year my brother in law sent me a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles DVD with 10 or so episodes from the original cartoon series. I watched some of them today, it was pretty fun! Reminded me of Saturday morning cartoons...back when I actually wanted to wake up on Saturday.


Here are some sweet memories...the orange van and the cabin. I am also lookin pretty good here with my matching sweats/windbreakers that are strung tight around my head. haha

August Highlights!

Hey everyone!
Well August was quite an exciting month for us! We started off by going up to Indiana and Ohio to visit fam and to go to Ivin's baptism! It was a really fun trip, and among the highlights of that is our trip to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where they run the Indy 500!



We also got to go and visit some Amish Country in Ohio, and we saw lots of people in wagons and shopped in some fun shops, including some cool antique malls!



While on our trip, we also celebrated my birthday (Reece)by going to Chuck E Cheese ( haha ok it was actually for Ivin's birthday, but I really enjoyed it!) I even got to help play with some of the toys/rides while I was watching after Lucy and Caity was looking after Josh.



Since being home this month, we have started school! Caity has started her online education at USU, studying Family Life Studies. That is pretty exciting, she has 4 online classes that look like they will keep her pretty busy! I started my second year of medical school, and since starting have had my first experience doing a male exam and a Female exam/PAP smear. Those were pretty cool experiences, although I was a little bit apprehensive (as was everyone else in my class). We are studying Hematology and Oncology right now,so we are learning a lot about various types of anemia and cancers, including today learning about lymphomas and leukemias. It is very interesting stuff!

For our last bit of news, we are currently in the process of finding some good baby names! Some of our top favorites include: Holden, Cooper, Emmett, Owen, Luke, Cole, Ella, Madison, Evelyn, Stella, Zoe, Penny, Maya, Rose, and Jade.






No we are not pregnant. :)

The Weekly update

Well here is our weekly update!

1) We miss mountains. That was an overriding theme this week as we have unanimously decided that the 100+ heat and the humidity are not to our liking. Plus, we want some hiking and biking etc where you are not sweaty before you start! We miss you, Utah mountains that were so close not so very long ago.

2) I got to round with the OB/Peds team this week in the hospital, which was pretty cool. Highlights of that: seeing several deliveries including a C-section, and getting to do one of my first hands on thing-I got to deliver a placenta. WOOT. I guess it is a pretty menial task but I was pretty excited to do it.

3) The puppies at the puppy store, our weekly source of entertainment, has disappointed us, the puppies are not what they used to be.

4) Harry Potter was good.

5) We are glad that Penny got kicked off the Next Food Network Star. Although her food looked really really good. For the record we are rooting for Vic and Susie...

6) Caity makes the best ice cream praline dessert. It is soooo good.

What we have been doing lately

Hi everyone! We have had a lot going on this summer, and so we will start with what we have been up to since coming back from our long trip to Utah and Washington, and then we will post some pics from those trips.

Recently, I have been on a preceptorship with the family medicine residency in Bryan. It has been a really great experience thus far, despite some really long hours (that I know I will have to get used to in residency anyways). I started off my first week with working in the Family Medicine Clinic, and that was fun working with the residents and seeing quite a few patients a day. I got to see some ultra sounds, alot of well child checks, diabetes and hypertension management, and some OB visits. It was cool, mostly regular family medicine type stuff. In the second week, or last week, I got to go do rounds in the hospital. I had to be there at 5 in the morning (really early compared to the late mornings I was used to on our vacation haha) and then some days I stayed till 5. Despite me being really really tired at the end of the day, it was pretty cool. Some of the highlights for me were watching a mass being pulled out of a guys chest and being able to help participate in a circumcision. I thought the circumcision would be more traumatic for the baby, but it wasnt as bad as I thought it would be. This next week I am going to do OB rounds in the hospital, so hopefully that will be fun!

I have had the car most of these past two weeks, so Caity has been stuck at home (I feel bad!). But she has been busy making really good food, as well as working hard on some more blankets. She is getting really excited for her schooling to start up again in the fall, as well as her subbing job.

This past weekend we went up to Dallas to see our friends Brad and Suzi, and we went to a waterpark at 6 flags. It was fun, the slides were great and we used a whole bottle of spray on sun screen so we would not get burnt! The down side was the water and the ground always seemed kinda gross. I think we have had our fill of water parks for the next few years. It was way fun though, and we enjoyed seeing Brad and Suzi. We really want to go back up to Dallas for the State Fair, which we figure should be pretty cool.

We took Reece golfing for the first time, he was in the bushes looking for his ball more than he would have liked.


I saw Hoover Dam for the first time, we were so nervous to even look over the edge. We were almost more amazed by the bridge they built over it.

We loved watching the water fountain show at the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas.

It was so great seeing Alan while he was in town and taking us shooting with Grandma and Grandpa.

Reece as an Olympic skier! This was at the Olympic Park in Park City.

The Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas was so cool and so big we were too tired from walking around all day to see it all!
